About Us – Lloydminster Heavy Oil Show (LHOS)
Who We Are
The Lloydminster Heavy Oil Show (LHOS) is the world’s premier showcase for heavy oil knowledge and technology. Held biennially in Lloydminster, a unique city straddling the Alberta-Saskatchewan border, the event is surrounded by thousands of producing heavy oil wells utilizing both cold and thermal production methods. This strategic location makes LHOS a hub for innovation and collaboration in the heavy oil sector.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a platform where industry leaders, innovators, and stakeholders can share knowledge, demonstrate cutting-edge technologies, and explore solutions for efficient and profitable heavy oil production. We aim to foster collaboration that drives advancements in sustainability, safety, and operational excellence across the global heavy oil industry.
Our Vision
To be recognized globally as the leading event for heavy oil technology and expertise, enabling businesses and professionals to shape the future of energy through innovation, partnerships, and responsible resource development.
What We Do
Our History
Since its inception in 1982, The LHOS has been organized by the volunteer membership of the Lloydminster Oilfield Technical Society (OTS). Rooted in a region where oil was first discovered in 1938 and commercially produced in 1943, the show reflects decades of ingenuity and resilience in the heavy oil industry. Today, LHOS continues to celebrate this legacy by showcasing advancements that make production safer, cleaner, and more efficient.
